Malankara Orthodox Church of the East has been in the vanguard of primary education scenario of Kerala for centuries. It accords top priority to bringing quality education to the grass roots. The institutions under the Malankara Orthodox Church Management remain centres for realising the sublime vision of the Church through quality education grounded on lofty values. It was a long cherished dream of the leaders of the church to establish a public school which provide quality education in Wayanad, the educationally backward district of Kerala. The dream came true when Rev. Fr. Mathai Noornal volunteered to explore the possibilities of starting a modern school in Sulthan Bathery. The School is started in 1993 under the Corporate Management of Catholicate and CBSE Schools, Kottayam under the initiative and admirable leadership of H.G. Thomas Mar Athanasios, the then manager. At present H.G. Alexios Mar Eusebius Metropolitan Manages the school under the educational agency of H.H. Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews III, the Catholicose of the East & Malankara Metropolitan. Since its inception Nirmala Matha Public School stand in the forefront of the secondary education scenario of Wayanad.
